PRESERVING YOUR NATURAL TEETH AND PROTECTING YOUR ORAL HEALTH
Tooth Extractions
While it is never ideal to pull a permanent tooth, sometimes it is necessary to perform tooth extractions in order to protect your oral health. Tooth extractions may be necessary for a variety or reasons, including some of the following causes:
A Crowded Mouth - sometimes teeth need to be pulled to prepare for other dental procedures, to prevent the movement of other teeth, or if a patient’s mouth is too small for teeth to be properly aligned
Infection - when tooth decay spreads to the pulp, bacteria can also enter the pulp (where the nerves and blood vessels are contained) leading to infection; in cases of severe infection that cannot be treated with other procedures (such as root canal therapy) then an extraction may be necessary
Risk of Infection - in some cases, tooth extraction may be necessary if you are at risk of infection and possible infection may lead to other severe health concerns
